What is MediaBank?
MediaBank is a DVD dispensing unit available only at Central Library. MediaBank allows reserves on DVDs in stock in the dispenser. Customers first place a reserve on the DVD using the MediaBank Web Catalog, and then pickup the reserved DVD directly from the MediaBank DVD Dispenser during Central's regular business hours. MediaBank DVDs are dispensed in a black plastic case. The DVD itself has a circular barcode which indicates it is a MediaBank DVD.
Where is the MediaBank DVD Dispenser?
You will find MediaBank in the Popular Materials Center at Central Library. MediaBank is available during Central's regular business hours, Monday-Thursday 9-9; Friday-Saturday 9-6; and Sunday 1-5.
How much does it cost to checkout a DVD?
There is no charge to checkout a DVD. You do need to have a valid Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library card and a 4-digit PIN to pickup and checkout your reserved DVD from the dispenser.
How do I search for a DVD that I want to reserve and checkout?
To find and reserve a MediaBank DVD simply connect to the MediaBank Catalog at http://media.evpl.org from any Internet access computer. By entering your library card number and 4-digit PIN, you are able to search and reserve any title that's currently in the DVD dispenser. Titles that are in the dispenser are in the Available Now Category or they are check marked Available.
How many MediaBank DVDs can I reserve?
You may reserve up to 3 DVDs at one time.
How long do I have to pickup reserved DVDs from the MediaBank DVD Dispenser?
You will have 4 hours to retrieve your DVD before the reserve expires. If the reserve was place within 4 hours of closing, you will need to pickup before the library closes.
Do I need a library card to checkout MediaBank DVDs?
You will need the library card and 4-digit PIN used to place the reserve in order to check out and retrieve the DVD from the MediaBank DVD Dispenser. The DVD is checked out to you once MediaBank has your account information. The DVD is then dispensed to you.
How many MediaBank DVDs can I check out?
You may check out a total of 3 DVDs whether the DVDs are from MediaBank, from any Best Seller Express DVD collection at any Branch; or are from a combination of MediaBank DVDs and Best Seller Express DVDs from any Branch.
Remember to return any BSE DVDs first before picking up more reserved DVDs from the Dispenser. If you have reached you card limit of BSE DVDs, you reserves cannot be dispensed to you and your reservations will be automatically cancelled by MediaBank.
How long can I keep MediaBank DVDs?
MediaBank DVDs are loaned for 3 days. Overdue fines are $1.00 per day up to a maximum of $5.00.
Where do I return the MediaBank DVDs?
DVDs checked out from the MediaBank DVD Dispenser must be returned to the dispenser. You are responsible for fines accrued during transit if MediaBank DVDs are returned through the book drop or at another Branch.
I don't have my wife/husband/child's card. How can I return a DVD to the MediaBank DVD Dispenser?
You don't need a library card to return DVDs to the dispenser. Simply choose the Quick Return button to return.
You will need a library card if you also want to pickup up reserved DVDs. If you have a return and a pickup, scan your library card first. You then have the option to return and then pickup any reserved DVDs.
The dispenser took my DVD, but gave an error message and did not recognize the DVD I returned. What should I do?
Occasionally, the dispenser may have trouble reading the barcode on the DVD. The dispenser will deposit these DVDs into a box in the back of the machine. Staff will check in these DVDs during regular business hours once a day. If you plan to checkout more MediaBank DVDs or another Branch Best Seller Express, please let staff know right away of your problem so it doesn't prevent you from checking out another DVD.
What do I do if the DVD disc is damaged?
If the disc is damaged, you may return it to the Checkout Desk or the Information Desk in the Popular Materials Center at Central Library during regular business hours. Please alert staff that the disc is damaged. Staff will take care of removing the DVD from your card and sending the disc to repair.
What should I do if the machine is out of service?
If you need to return a DVD and the machine is out of service, return it to Central Library either to the Checkout Desk or the Information Desk in the Popular Materials Center. Staff will take care of removing the DVD from your card.
